Ithaca.community is a website lauched in 2019 to help Ithacans find what they’re looking for. Our mission is to empower individuals & families to explore our beautiful region, try new things, and come together.

Users can search for places to go by category (activity, service provider, restaurant) or by features that would make their outing easier (changing table, free parking, indoor play space). We are constantly adding listings, and adjusting our categories and features to accommodate what users are looking for. Listings are populated on a map and are able to be further refined by region, category, and feature.

While users can go to Google or Yelp for their questions, the information they find isn’t always relevant. Or accurate. Or easy to sift through. Ithaca.Community is created by, written by, updated and monitored by local Ithacans. We do our research and verify our listings before we post. We never scrape the internet for content like other directory listing sites. We type our listings with our own fingertips.

As a brand new site, we are waiting to get official data on our audience. Based on research of similiar websites, our goal is to have 15,000 visits/month and 4+ pages/visit by the end of our first year.

You can count on our team to promote our site like crazy. We have social media and ad campaigns planned, press releases written, printed promotional materials, and local ad sponsorships arranged.

You can also count on us to track our data vigilantly. We love data and have a plethora of conversion goals set within Google Analytics to help us determine what’s working on the site & what’s not. We are happy to share data and goal tracking with our corporate sponsors.

This site was created by 4 local moms who think it should be easier to find stuff in Ithaca. It’s the brainchild of coder/designer Mariellen VanDyke Brown, with immense writing & strategic help from Nicole LaFave, Laura Vineyard, and Casey Verderosa.
